"It's cool that people can explore their own sound and not stick to one genre"

Minicoop is a Techno DJ hailing from Melbourne city with a positive attitude and a simple message.

She advocates strongly for happiness, gratitude and integrity, having worked her way through the scene carrying this motif.

“Leave things better than you found [them]. It’s like a ‘monkey see, monkey do’ kind of thing, like you want to keep passing that legacy I guess.”

When asked about her experience working in the clubs Minicoop recounted her first ever gig.

“Turbo was actually the first club I ever played at. Just that feeling I’ve still got when I first played with all my friends in the background, looking into the abyss of the dark room - it was just incredible.”

Sounds very ethereal. She goes on to list some of the DJs she values most, naming KI/KI, VTSS and a few others.

The pacing of the interview shifts (on multiple occasions) between her musical aspirations and the more personal subject of family life. She opens up about what it's like to have grandparents overseas and the importance of spending time with them - even if it's only brief.

“Being able to actually meet my grandparents, being able to go visit my country and see them. I appreciate saying ‘I love you’ more because the time you have is so short! I went back last year and the year before that, but prior to that we didn’t go for seven years. That’s a really long time.”
