DESCRIPTION
“My release ‘Sober’ is an emotionally raw and introspective confessional about letting go and consciously breaking free from relationships that feel intoxicating however leave you feeling empty, lost and disconnected. The lyrics reflect the inner conflict between craving connection and the emotional destruction it can have when your garden is not being watered. Being ‘Sober’ isn’t just about distracting yourself with substances. From personal experience I have found myself being attached to a version of someone who isn’t real, doing the most by overplaying my part or feeling so deeply towards people who have contributed to mental warfare or drained my energy because I let them! I formed unhealthy patterns and distractions to hide the reality of my emotions losing what it means to be me. “Hurt me to leave, but I’d rather be sober” was me being honest with myself. It sucks to let go when you love someone or something, although staying in dysfunction and holding onto toxic comfort can only create additional pain. I wrote this piece to illustrate the strength and power we have within ourselves. Once we stop chasing a high, we reclaim our sense of higher self after being lost in someone or something else.”
